National men's pair Goh V Shem-Tan Wee Kiong kicked things off at the Carrara Sports & Leisure Centre in Gold Coast by beating Abraham Ayittey-Michael Opoku Baah 21-8, 21-11.
After Soniia Cheah defeated Stella Koteikai Amasah 21-3, 21-5 in 18 minutes in the women's singles event, Lee Chong Wei sealed the win for the defending champions in straight sets against Daniel Sam, winning 21-2, 21-7.
Female pair Vivian Hoo-Chow Mei Kuan continued the team's strong momentum by beating Grace Atipaka-Eyram Migbodzi 21-2, 21-3, before mixed pair Goh Liu Ying-Chan Peng Soon wrapped the encounter up with a 21-7, 21-6 win over Gifty Mensah-Emmanuel Donkor.
Malaysia will next face Seychelles and Canada on Friday.
