Atlet badminton para negara, Hairul Fozi, mahu memastikan aksi cemerlang mampu ditampilkan di pentas Sukan Paralimpik Tokyo 2020, apatah lagi dengan statusnya sebagai pemain beregu Paralimpik no. 1 dunia.
Selepas sukan badminton tidak dipertandingkan dalam temasya Paralimpik Rio 2016, Fozi menyifatkan ia adalah masa terbaik untuk membuktikan aksi kompetitif di pentas Paralimpik buat kali pertama di Tokyo 2020 bersama gandingannya, Cheah Liek Hou, bagi acara beregu lelaki kategori SU5.
Sedikit mencabar apabila mereka tidak menjalani latihan bersama kerana Cheah -- pemenang pingat emas Kejohanan Dunia BWF di England tahun lalu -- berlatih sendirian.
Namun, mereka tidak menganggap ia satu halangan besar kerana masih lagi mampu mempertahankan pingat emas Sukan Para ASEAN 2013 dan seterusnya 2015 di Singapura.
"Keserasian itu belum mencapai tahap terbaik tetapi sebaik dia (Cheah Liek Hou) datang berlatih, ketika itulah kami melakukan persiapan bersama," jelas Fozi.
Meskipun masih bercuti sempena tahun baru, Fozi tetap menjalani latihan sendiri bersama pemain normal yang lain untuk menambah pengalaman baru.
"Latihan ini membantu dalam memperbaiki permainan saya.
"Walaupun masih ada tiga tahun, sebenarnya waktu itu agak singkat. Jadi, saya akan berlatih sebaik mungkin," tambahnya.
