Beregu campuran yang semakin mempamer peningkatan, Tan Kian Meng dan Lai Pei Jing, meneruskan kecemerlangan apabila menumbangkan gandingan New Zealand, Oliver Leydon-Davis dan Gronya Somerville, 23-21, 21-9.
Dalam perkembangan lain, misi Iskandar Zulkarnain untuk memperbaiki aksi hambar di Terbuka Korea bulan lalu tidak kesampaian apabila dia tewas kepada pilihan kelapan dari England, Rajiv Ouseph.
Pemain berusia 25 tahun itu tewas 8-21, 21-17, 17-21 dalam tempoh kurang sejam.
Turut mengalami nasib sama, dua pemain profesional negara, Zulfadli Zulkifli dan Chong Wei Feng.
Zufadli kecundang 22-20, 12-21, 14-21 berdepan Brice Leverdez dari Perancis manakala Wei Feng tewas kepada wakil India, Prannoy H.S 13-21, 21-19, 20-22.
