Datuk Lee Chong Wei berjaya membalas dendam kekalahan di tangan Brice Leverdez dalam Kejohanan Dunia selepas melakar kemenangan straight set 21-6, 21-9 ke atas pemain Perancis itu dalam pusingan kedua Siri Super Premier Terbuka China di Fuzhou, hari ini.
Dipalit prestasi hambar pada tahun ini, Chong Wei yang berada di ranking ketujuh dunia ketika ini tiada masalah untuk memperagakan kemahiran dan kepantasannya di dalam gelanggang.
Pukulan tepat menyaksikan juara 2015 itu menang mudah set pertama 21-6, sebelum terus menguasai permainan berdepan Leverdez.
Leverdez terus gagal membalas tekanan Chong Wei dan tewas mudah pada set kedua 9-21 dalam tempoh 31 minit, sekali gus membawa pemain perseorangan negara itu ke suku akhir.
Pada Ogos lalu, Chong Wei tersingkir seawal pusingan pembukaan dalam Kejohanan Dunia di Glasgow, Scotland selepas tewas kepada pemain Perancis itu.
Dalam aksi suku akhir esok, Chong Wei akan berdepan sama ada pemain Hong Kong, Angus Ng Ka Long, atau Jonatan Christie dari Indonesia.
Sementara itu, satu lagi wakil negara dalam pusingan kedua, beregu baru negara, Ong Yew Sin-Tan Wee Kiong, gagal meneruskan kemaraan apabila tewas kepada wakil China, Liu Cheng-Zhang Nan.
Yew Sin-Wee Kiong, yang masih mencari keserasian, dilihat sukar untuk bertahan terhadap pukulan kencang dan tepat lawan untuk akhirnya tewas 16-21, 14-21.
