The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) confirmed their list of players for next month's Badminton Asia Team Championship, which also serves as a qualifying stage for the 2018 Thomas and Uber Cup.
Held for only the second time, the tournament will take place in Alor Setar, Kedah, from February 6 to 11.
Lee Chong Wei will lead the challenge for the men's team, which also consists of single shuttlers Iskandar Zulkarnain, Soong Joo Ven and Lee Zii Jia, and Tan Wee Kiong-Goh V Shem, Teo Ee Yi-Ong Yew Sin and Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani for the doubles rounds.
As for the women's squad, the BAM named Soniia Cheah, Goh Jin Wei, Lim Yin Fun, S. Kisona, Vivian Hoo-Woon Khe Wei, Chow Mei Kuan-Lee Meng Yean, and Yap Cheng Wen-Goh Yea Ching.
Both squads will attempt to reach the semi-finals of their respective events, which will book Malaysia's spot at the Thomas and Uber Cup later this year.
In the inaugural edition held in Hyderabad, India, two years ago, Malaysia failed to reach the semi-finals but still qualified for the main event following an improved world ranking.
