Persatuan Badminton Malaysia (BAM) lega apabila usaha singkat penubuhan skuad projek khas untuk membantu Datuk Wira Lee Chong Wei menghasilkan keputusan positif dalam Kejohanan Seluruh England.
Ramai pihak yang ragu-ragu dengan kemampuan Chong Wei sebelum bermulanya kejohanan di Birmingham ini.
Meskipun meniti usia 34 tahun, Chong Wei membuktikan dia masih punyai aura sang juara untuk melakar satu lagi kejayaan manis dalam kariernya.
Timbalan Presiden Persatuan Badminton Malaysia (BAM), Datuk Seri Norza Zakaria, menyifatkan penubuhan skuad projek khas sudah menampakkan kejayaan buat Chong Wei.
"Sepertimana yang saya katakan, kami akan terus memberi sokongan kepada Chong Wei untuk bermain.
"Selagi kami gagal melahirkan pemain pelapis, selagi itu Chong Wei akan berada di situ untuk membantu melahirkan pemain muda baru," jelas Norza.
Selain pemain no.1 dunia itu, kejayaan Chan Peng Soon dan Goh Liu Ying juga boleh dianggap satu pencapaian yang luar biasa, dengan muncul wakil pertama Malaysia di pentas akhir beregu campuran,
Pendek kata, pencapaian Malaysia dalam Seluruh England kali ini adalah satu kejayaan menyeluruh untuk sukan badminton Malaysia.
"Kempen Seluruh England kali ini cukup cemerlang, cuma beregu lelaki Goh V Shem-Tan Wee Kiong serta Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying kurang bernasib baik. Bagaimanapun, syabas kepada mereka," tambahnya.
