Itu adalah antara punca kekalahan pasukan negara kepada Indonesia dalam pertembungan sengit aksi terakhir Kumpulan B, Kejohanan Badminton Berpasukan Campuran Asia di Bandaraya Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, sekaligus menyaksikan Malaysia kempunan menjadi juara kumpulan.
Daripada sudut teknikal, barisan muda negara tampak tidak menghadapi masalah untuk menyaingi lawan.
Bagaimanapun, lambat untuk mendapat rentak di samping mudah hilang konsentrasi ketika saat genting, menjadi punca Malaysia dikecewakan Indonesia.
Antaranya aksi beregu lelaki negara, Teo Ee Yi dan Ong Yew Sin yang berpeluang menghadirkan mata pertama buat Malaysia, namun gugup sehingga mereka tewas saat-saat akhir kepada lawan, Wahyu Nayaka-Ade Yusuf, 11-21 21-17, 20-22.
"Kami terlalu gopoh, sepatutnya ketika mendahului 20 mata, kami perlu lebih tenang, itulah kesilapan kami," ujar Yew Sin.
Mujurlah aksi cemerlang pemain perseorangan, Lim Chi Wing, dan beregu campuran, Goh Soon Huat dan Shevon Jamie Lai, tidak menghampakan peminat di Malaysia.
Dua mata yang disumbang dalam aksi straight sets, menampakkan Chi Wing, Soon Huat-Shevon adalah antara sandaran terbaik negara dalam kejohanan ini.
"Saya hanya bermain sebaik mungkin dalam setiap perlawanan. Saya berharap akan mendapat satu lagi peluang untuk beraksi dalam suku akhir," kata Chi Wing.
