Defending champions Malaysia had to settle for silver in the badminton mixed team event at the 2018 Commonwealth Games after losing to India 3-1 in the final on Monday.
It was an historic achievement for India as they won their first-ever Commonwealth Games gold medal in the event, which had only been won by England and Malaysia since its introduction in 1978.
Their victory came after Soniia Cheah conceded the decisive fourth game to 2010 gold medallist Saina Nehwal 11-21, 21-19, 9-21.
Prior to that, the Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying pair was defeated by Satwik Rankireddy-Ashwini Ponnappa 14-21, 21-15, 15-21 in the first game, and Lee Chong Wei lost to world no.2 Srikanth Kidambi 17-21, 14-21 in the second match.
Goh V Shem and Tan Wee Kiong managed to salvage some pride for Malaysia and pull one back in the men's doubles, winning 21-15, 22-20.
In the bronze medal match, England beat Singapore 3-0.
