Ridzuan Puzi was unable to compete in the men's 100m T36 (cerebral palsy) at the 9th ASEAN Para Games as scheduled today due to fever.

The Rio Paralympic gold medallist was reportedly taken to the Putrajaya Hospital last Saturday and admitted for three days.

"Ridzuan was omitted from the race because he still has a fever, so we got other sprinters to run instead," confirmed Ahmad Shapawi Ismail, director-general of the National Sports Council.

In his absence, compatriots Raduan Emeari and Alif Malek finished second and third behind Indonesia's Agung Laksana.

With the duo's contributions, Malaysia have won 21 gold, 11 silver and 17 bronze medals in athletic events at the time of writing.
