The NFL will play another regular-season game in Mexico City in 2017, it has been confirmed.
Commissioner Roger Goodell announced on Wednesday that the Oakland Raiders will host the New England Patriots at Estadio Azteca next season.
The date and time of the game will be released around the same time the NFL schedule is issued later this year.
"We have a tremendous fan base in Mexico," Goodell said. "Their passion for football is inspiring, and we look forward to another memorable game in Mexico City between two great teams next season."
It will be the second year in a row the Raiders will play in Mexico City. During the 2016 season, they defeated the Houston Texans 27-20 in the first 'Monday Night Football' game outside the United States.
Goodell expects the 2017 game to be played on a Sunday because of the travel and short-week challenges the Raiders and Texans faced after that game.
"The Raiders are excited to return to Estadio Azteca and represent the National Football League once again on an international stage," Raiders owner Mark Davis said. "We enjoyed tremendous support from the Raider Nation in Mexico in 2016 and look forward to experiencing that great passion again this year."
