Odell Beckham injures thumb before returning to score TD

Odell Beckham Jr. sparked injury fears when he left Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns twice in the first quarter before returning and scoring a touchdown.

The New York Giants receiver went to the locker room early on, but did return. He left again late in the first quarter following a seven-yard reception with 1:06 remaining in the first quarter.

After making the catch, Beckham was in visible pain and went to the sideline, where he threw his gloves toward the bench.

The Giants said Beckham had a thumb injury and was questionable to return. He returned to the sideline early in the second quarter and was getting his right hand taped.

The injury may have occurred on a third-down pass that was broken up by Browns cornerback Joe Haden with five minutes remaining in the first quarter. Beckham's hand appeared to hit Haden's helmet on the play. Beckham caught three passes for 19 yards before the injury.

Beckham did return midway through the second quarter, but was not targeted as the Giants took a 7-0 lead on a 13-yard touchdown pass to Dwayne Harris with 7:03 remaining in the half.

Giants quarterback Eli Manning did throw Beckham's way on New York's next series, connecting for a 32-yard touchdown to give the Giants a 14-3 lead before halftime.
