Marrone named Jaguars interim head coach

With Gus Bradley fired on Sunday after the Jacksonville Jaguars loss to the Houston Texans, the team has placed offensive line coach Doug Marrone in his role on an interim basis.

Marrone, an assistant head coach to Bradley, was the head coach of the Buffalo Bills from 2013-14 and posted a 15-17 record before opting out of his contract.

Prior to Buffalo, Marrone was the head coach at Syracuse for four seasons. He takes over a 2-12 Jaguars team that went a combined 14-48 under Bradley.

The loss to the Texans was a ninth in a row for the Jaguars, who never won more than five games under Bradley.

The Jaguars held a 20-8 lead on Sunday after Marqise Lee's 100-yard kick-off return with less than seven minutes remaining in the third quarter. But the Texans rallied behind backup quarterback Tom Savage, scoring 10 points in the fourth quarter.
